Lennie Herd
For more than 40 years Lennie Herd has been the first choice for anyone who
wanted the best mainstream dixieland trumpeter in the country. Throughout that
time he’s been a secret known only to musicians but with the creation of the
Scottish Jazz All Stars his particular brand of hard swinging lead trumpet will
become more recognised throughout the land.
He was in at the start of the trad boom in Scotland when he was one of the
founders of the beloved George Penman Jazzmen then he went abroad and played in
France and America.
He came back to help found the Glasgow Jazz Festival and played with a number of
Britain’s best musicians including George Chisholm, Alan Barnes, Terry
Lightfoot, and Humphrey Lyttleton.
